Weird Scholarships almost anyone can get

Weird Scholarships - odd, unusual, wacky and downright weird scholarships anyone can getWhat classifies a scholarship as a weird scholarship? Well if you read the description and you say to yourself “you can get a scholarship for that!!!?” chances are I would classify that as a weird or at the very least an unusual scholarship. A scholarship my be considered weird simply by who is offering it, an example of this type of wacky scholarship would be a McDonald’s Scholarship, or the Burger King Scholarship.

The great thing about weird scholarships is that in most cases they are very easy scholarships to get. There is usually little to no academic requirements, no essays or extra curricular requirements. With that said most odd scholarships are pretty specific in terms of how you qualify. Examples of weird scholarships and qualifications are:

Left handed Scholarships: As you would guess you must be left handed to qualify, but that’s really the only requirement, if you have a need, don’t have horrible grades and are left handed then you qualify.

Tall People Scholarships: You must be at least  6’2” if a man and 5’10” if your a woman, this scholarship come from the Tall Clubs of American, only catch with this one is you must be recommended from a Tall Club member from your local chapter.

Little People Scholarship: You must be 4’10” or shorter to qualify, similar to the Tall scholarship only the recommendation is not needed, you need only to meet the height requirements.

Duct Tape Scholarship: You must wear a prom outfit made from duct tape to enter this scholarship contest, this one could be lots of fun, I checked out the photos, and you would not believe what some of these kids made form duct tape! So you better be creative!

Last Name Scholarships: If your last name is Gatlin, Scarpinato, Van Valkenburg, Baxendale, Hudson, Thayer, Downer, or Bright, Congratulations you may have a scholarship waiting for you at great Schools including Harvard!

These are just a few of the weird scholarships you will find on our site, as we find new wacky scholarships we will add them to the site. If you come across any odd, unusual, wacky or weird scholarships yourself please let us know so we can add them to the list. Thanks for visiting us and I hope you get the money you need for college, even if you have to get it in a not so traditional way!

Left Handed?

Believe it or not you can get a scholarship for that! Left handed scholarships are actually one of the the more popular and widely known of the weird scholarships that I have researched, but, I know there are many that are still not aware that you can get a scholarship for something as simple as being left handed.

It has been suggested that left handed people are more intelligent and more creative than their right handed counterparts. I highly doubt this hypothesis but if you look at some of the more notable lefties in our history I can see how some one could come to this conclusion. Here are just a few famous left handed people:

  • Presidents Garfield, Hoover, Truman, Ford, Reagan, H.W. Bush, Clinton, and Obama are/were all left handed.
  • Famous artist including Michelangelo, Raphael, Leonardo da Vinci…
  • Singers  and musicians including Jimmy Hendrix, Kurt Cobain, Phil Collins…
  • A Huge list of Actors such as Tom Cruise, Robert DeNiro, Charlie Chaplin, and many, many more.
  • Other notable famous left handed people include Joan of Arc, Alexander the Great,  Several Royals,  Henry Ford, Larry Bird and countless others.

Ok, so we could probably put together a list of famous right handed folks as well, but still pretty impressive!

Left Handed Scholarships Currently Available:

At the time of this post there is only one left handed scholarship currently available for student to apply for in 2012. The name of this scholarship is The Frederick and mary F. Beckley Scholarship  This is a college scholarship that is  awarded to sophomores, juniors and seniors that are currently attending Juniata College in Huntingdon, PA, and are left handed, the award for this scholarship is $1000-$1500

It may sound like something from a fairytale but easy scholarships do exist, they are not heavily publicized and  they may have slightly weird requirements, but they do indeed exist.

Let’s face it not everyone is a Valedictorian with a free ride to any college of their choice, the rest of us have to pay our own way. Without a scholarship most students end up with a mountain of debt by the time they graduate. Fortunately there are Easy Scholarships you can apply for that do not have such strict academic requirements to obtain. As with anything that sounds too good to be true, there is a catch, most of these scholarships have some sort of strange or unusual requirement for you to qualify.

Here are a few examples of Easy Scholarship requirements:

  • Are you a girl that lives on campus, has no job, and no other scholarships? You qualify!
  • Are you left handed? Your in luck lefty!  There are left handed scholarships!
  • Are you really tall or really short? You guessed it there is a scholarship for both of these you could apply for.
  • Big Fan of Star Trek are you? There are actually a few scholarships for Trekkies including a Klingon Scholarship, lol.

This is by far not a complete list but this should give you an idea of what is available for you. With so many different types of these easy scholarships available you are sure to find one that fits some unique trait that you have. So there is no need to beat yourself up if you don’t have the stellar grades like the top percentage of you class, by thinking out of the box you can a scholarship for yourself and easy the burden of the expensive college tuition. Just don’t limit yourself to the traditional academic scholarships, search out scholarships that may be a little weird but still help you accomplish your ultimate goal of paying for your college education.
